Nanocomposite Filtek Supreme XTE in 3 g syringe

Filtek Supreme XTE is a restorative with excellent aesthetics in anterior restorations and strength for posterior restorations. The universal restorer offers its exceptional properties thanks to nanotechnology, first introduced by 3M ESPE in 2002.

The polishing retention of the Filtek Supreme XTE restorative has been shown to be superior to other composites, including microfilled composites, due to the patented process used to manufacture the nanocomposite. This process creates unique aggregates of nano-sized particles. These nano-aggregates flake off at a rate similar to the wear of the surrounding resin matrix during abrasion, allowing the restoration to maintain a smoother surface, meaning that the impressive initial gloss will be maintained for years.

Nanotechnology offers wear resistance similar to that of enamel. A recent 5-year clinical study* measuring "wear at occlusal contacts" showed no statistically significant difference between Filtek Supreme universal restorative and enamel. Since Filtek Supreme XTE restorer is derived from the same patented nanotechnology, and in vitro laboratory data has shown it to have similar wear resistance to Filtek Supreme XT restorer.
