Sandblasting or blasting is a surface cleaning technique based on projecting an abrasive material together with pressurised air. Sand was the traditional abrasive, which is where the name originated.

Nowadays, there are many other abrasives that have replaced it, such as: aluminium silicate, glass microspheres, olivine, pumice, Armex bicarbonate, vegetable shot, garnet, brown corundum, white corundum, plastic shot and steel shot.

The role of sandblasting is that, thanks to the abrasive action of blasting, we can achieve stripping, roughening and surface finish changes.
