An intensifying screen is a device used in orthodontic radiology to enhance the effect of radiation using lower direct exposure and achieve better image visualisation. It consists of a phosphor film that emits light when interacting with X-rays, which is placed in a metal cassette (made up of plates) between which the X-ray film is positioned. Although there is some loss of image detail, this technology is highly sought after as it effectively achieves its main objective.
