Reinforced glass ionomer cement

The reinforced glass ionomers have higher retraction and compressive strength than conventional glass ionomer cements, and usually offer better aesthetics and chemical stability. It presents two types of curing, the typical reaction of the acid-base type ionomer and that of light-activated resins.
The reinforced glass ionomers are suitable for metal crowns, inlays and onlays, prefabricated temporary metal crowns and also for metal-based restorations made of zirconium, alumina and resins. Similarly, it can be used in bridges, intra-coronary and extra-coronary inlays and even in ceramics and others.
Its main advantages are fast setting, bonding to dentin, fluoride release, bonding to dentin adhesives and resins due to methacrylate free radicals.
There are different manufacturers of both resin reinforced glass ionomer cements and silver reinforced glass ionomer cements available at Dentaltix, including 3M, GC, VOCO and SDI. Browse through the categories to discover the wide range of cements and their presentations.
