Case of Study: Intraoral repair of ceramic restorations with iBOND

12/06/2019 - 11:47

iBond Universal is a latest generation adhesive that we presented in the previous blog post, a multipurpose adhesive for all material and clinical situation.

The perfect ally for repair of restorations and fractures, especially in metal inlays or ceramic crowns and bridges, thanks to its power of union and in a single step with no need for engraving acids or complicated silanisation.

In addition to the difficult removal of the old material that made intraoral treatment difficult and compromised healthy tissue, which could affect the pulp and therefore the total integrity of the tooth.

Below are several clinical cases of restoration repair quickly, safely and economically with iBOND Universal of Kulzer.

CASE Silicate ceramic inlay with secondary caries

Initial situation: Secondary caries in ceramic silicate inlay at distal molar nº16 and mesial caries produced by defective restoration at molar nº17

Action : It was decided to clean mesial caries from composite restoration and a considerable cavity was discovered where food debris accumulated and safely caused the adjacent caries under the incrustation.

Once the first caries wth sectional and composite matrix was fixed, it was decided to proceed with reparing the ceramic restoration. Thanks to the binding power of iBond adhesive, it was decided to repair directly and introrally without lifting the inlay.

The ceramic was dismantled with a fine diamond cutter to access the decayed area and clean it safely.

Once removed with the cavity already clean and dry, iBond Ceramic Primer is applied to the surface preparation for silanisation of ceramics, unlike other procedures not requiring the use of hydrofluoric acid.

Preserves teeth and shortens treatments with maximum adhesive strength.

iBOND Ceramic Primer on the exposed surface with a waiting time of 20 seconds and subsequent air-drying, the adhesive can be applied iBOND Universal.

A single layer of adhesive and 20 seconds of action are enough to achieve the desired bond, air dry the surface until the adhesive film does not move and light cure for 10 seconds.

The glossy surface indicates that the cavity is prepared for filling, in this case it is decided to restore immediately with nano-hybrid composite Venus Pearl both the old composite restoration and the ceramic inlay.

In a single appointment can recover two teeth, easy and quick solution for the dentist with a comfortable, conservative and economical treatment for the patient.
