Orthodontic Adhesives and Composites

Dental adhesives are materials that enable bonding between the tooth tissue and the orthodontic composite, allowing for photopolymerisation. Adhesives offer optimal fixation properties, while the composite is used for fillings in aesthetic restorations, releasing fluoride after application, with the adhesive bonding the restorative material.
Composites are mainly made up of three different materials:
- Organic matrix.
- Inorganic matrix.
- Bonding agent.
The position of the cavity and aesthetic requirements are factors to consider when correctly choosing a composite.
