Description
BFRT Endodontic Tip Kit
Features of BFRT Endodontic Tip Kit:
- Designed to facilitate canal enlargement and extraction of broken files during endodontic procedures.
- Each of its tips is utilized during the different stages of the process.
- Maximum efficiency and safety.
- Canal enlargement up to the broken file and canal flaring: a Gates Glidden drill No. 3 is used to enlarge the canal up to the broken file and brush it against the outer wall to widen the canal when the canal curvature is less than 15º. A NiTi conical file No. 60/.02 is used to enlarge the canal up to the broken file and brush it against the outer wall to widen the canal when the canal curvature is greater than 15º.
- ED88 and ED89 tips: Creates a semicircular space of 90º. These tips are designed to create a thin space between the inner wall and the broken file, using the flat surface on the broken file from the inner wall, and activating the ultrasound when placed in the space. The depth of the space should be at least one third of the length of the broken file. If the curvature is greater than 30 degrees, it is advisable to place a drop of medical-grade silicone oil in the canal to facilitate lubrication and loosening of the broken file. The depth of the space in this condition should be at least half the length of the broken file.
- ED87 tip: Expand the peripheral space from 90º to 180º. Used to expand the semicircular space from 90 degrees to 180º until the broken file 'dances' (moving from the original space to another) under magnification. In clinical practice, the tip should be used with tapping and pulsating movements. It is advised not to press it against the canal and to activate the ultrasound to avoid breakage due to cyclic fatigue. To expand the lateral space, the tip should be used with an up/down motion to cut dentin, not laterally.
Once the preparation is finished, the ED87 ultrasound tip used when making the broken file 'dance' should be used to attempt ultrasonic extraction. To achieve the extraction of the broken file, the ultrasonic tip should be placed in the space created in the inner wall and the ultrasound activated in a short vertical motion within the previously prepared space. If the curvature of the canal is 30º or less, the canal should be filled with 17% EDTA, or if the curvature of the canal is greater than 30 degrees, vegetable oil should be used.
