Do you want to achieve high-quality restorations that last longer? Then you are in the right post. Today we give you the solution to all your intraoral repair problems. How? Thanks to iBOND Universal from Kulzer, an adhesive that can be applied to numerous materials, allowing you to repair fractured restorations. But that's not all, this adhesive is able to cover any direct or indirect restoration and has super interesting indications such as: bonding of fissure sealants, sealing of hypersensitive tooth areas and cavities prior to amalgam restorations or cementation of both types of restorations.
This new category of materials has emerged as a new option for repairing restorations with localised defects. It is a minimally invasive treatment, recommended by the international scientific community, as it preserves the structure of the healthy tooth. In addition, iBOND Universal will save you time, it only needs 10 seconds of polymerisation, and prolong the life of the restorations. Ready to get to know this super product and its benefits? Let's get started!
What are the benefits of iBOND Universal?
iBOND Universal is a fotopolymerisable adhesive, suitable for all indications and bonding techniques. It is characterised by its compatibility with any material, making it a trustworthy all-rounder adhesive! In addition, it prevents the occurrence of fractures and chipping that are common in total restoration replacements.
Advantages of iBOND Universal Adhesive:
- Provides effective and long-lasting bond strength on all materials in need of repair.
- Ready to use, no need to combine with other solutions.
- Minimally invasive technique that allows you to preserve healthy tissue without unnecessary wear and tear.
- It features a unique moisture control. Acetone acts as a water chaser which promotes rapid evaporation of water.
- Compatible with all types of materials: light-curing, self-curing and dual-curing. No need for a dual-curing activator.
- It has an easy and precise application. The product features a drip control system ideal for applying only the adhesive needed.

Clinical Case Selection: iBOND Universal
The biggest challenge of intraoral repairs lies in the compatibility of the adhesive with the different materials. Depending on the restoration, the bond must be effective both on the tooth surface and on various dental materials. Therefore, to show you how far this product can go, we bring you clinical cases involving different materials.
Below, we present the cases carried out in dental clinics on patients of different ages, where iBOND Universal adhesive was used. Because what better way to see the results than through real case studies!
The selected cases differed in that they repaired different failed restorations:
- Restoration in glass/silicate ceramic (clinical case 1).
- Restoration on a gold inlay (clinical case 2).
- Restoration of composite (clinical case 3).
- Restoration on a metal-ceramic bridge (clinical case 4).
Keep reading because... we'll tell you all the details!
Clinical case 1: Intraoral repair in silicate/glass ceramic
In this first case, the patient had secondary caries in a silicate ceramic inlay, 16 distal. This caries was caused by the restoration 17, which had a large cavity where food debris accumulated.
First, restoration 17 was repaired using iBOND Universal and composite resin. Next, a firm sectional matrix was applied and the shape of the matrix surface was adjusted. Thanks to the tight fit of the matrix, which allowed for proper control, possible contamination was ruled out.
The following steps were carried out for the ceramics:
- It was roughed with a fine diamond grinder.
- Selective enamel etching was carried out with iBOND Etch gel.
- Only the surface of the silicate ceramic was silanised with iBOND Ceramic Primer.
After application, drying and polymerisation of iBOND Universal the surface of the cavity was glossy. After the treatment, the final restoration of parts 17 and 16 was carried out with the Venus Pearl composite.

Clinical case 2: Intraoral repair of a gold inlay
In clinical situation two, the patient had a caries located at the margin of a gold inlay. We tell you how it was solved step by step!
STARTING situation: Image of the gold inlay margin cavity.
Cavity excavated after caries removal
Selective etching of the enamel in the cavity to ensure that the phosphoric acid does not come into contact with the metal surface. If it did, the bond strength of the adhesive to the metal would be reduced because the phosphoric acid leaves a phosphate layer on the alloy.
FINAL situation: Shiny surface after use of iBOND Universal and repair with Venus Diamond Flow.
Clinical case 3: Intraoral repair of a composite restoration
The patient in the third case report wanted to repair a composite restoration that had fractured. The fractured surface was roughed with a diamond bur. Then iBOND Universal was applied by gently rubbing for 20 seconds. Finally, the Venus Pearl nanohybrid composite was applied. And, voila, the teeth were as good as new. Can't you believe it? Here's a before and after picture.
Clinical case 4: Intraoral repair of a metal-ceramic bridge
In this last case the patient had fractured ceramics in a metal-ceramic bridge. We show it to you in more detail!
INITIAL situation: Image of the fracture of the ceramic in a metal-ceramic bridge.
Surface exposed to sandblasting.
Bonded to silicate/glass ceramics by silanisation with iBOND Ceramic Primer and application of iBOND Universal.
The metallic surface was masked with a mixture of Venus Diamond Flow Baseliner and Venus Color, colour choco.
The restoration was stratified and polished.
FINAL situation: restored tooth.
As you can see, iBOND Universal Adhesive is ideal for the extraordinary repair of failed restorations. But, not only that, several studies have already confirmed the long lastingness of these repairs in restorations. In addition to the best advantage of all, the patient's healthy tooth tissue is preserved!
