A new Black Friday is coming up and we think it's the best time to give you an overview of the impact it had in 2018 and what you can expect this year.
This tradition, which began as an initiative to increase U.S. retail sales in the 1960s, gained global momentum with the expansion of e-commerce and has spread to almost every sector, including the dental sector.
Every Black Friday, at Dentaltix we intend to exceed the offers of the previous year, in quantity of products, extra discount and duration of the offer. No doubt that in 2019 we will surprise you!

Black Friday 2018 at Dentaltix.
In 2018 Black Friday was held on November 23rd, but at Dentaltix we start discounts at the beginning of the week.
On that occasion,from Monday 18 to the following Monday, we offered an extra 10% discount on more than 10 thousand products from manufacturers who support us in initiatives like this: Bader, Bien Air, KDM, Komet, Kulzer, Medicaline, Ortho Technology, Prevdent, Ultradent and VDW Zipperer.
Product categories such as Orthodontics, Endodontics, Whitening, Dental burs and Dental instruments had extended offers on top level brands in advance . Thus, our customers did not have to wait for Black Friday to benefit from these discounts with the risk of running out of stock that day.
The week was full of offers, But on Black Friday, we knocked down the prices. From Friday to Sunday, we offered from 5% to 20% extra discount on all products available at Dentaltix.
2018’s Black Friday numbers
This time of year is ideal for investing in long-lasting products, where prices are often high and offers are best used. It is also a good time to buy in quantity products with a long expiration date or to be encouraged to try out our new product launches of the year.>
For you to see the impact this date has on e-commerce in the sector, here we present you the most striking data, comparing the Black Friday week until Cyber Monday with the previous week:
Growth in website visits: website visits increase a 26%. On Black Friday and during the weekend, in which we keep the offers available, the visits increase to 46% on average.
Growth in purchases through web: purchases through the web increased 64%. However,a big increase in purchases (88%) starts to be noticable on Thursday afternoon, which is when the offers throughout the web started. On Black Friday, the increase shot up to 164% compared to a normal Friday. During the weekend, the increase averages 100% over any other weekend.
Sales Volume Growth: Sales volume (€) increased 110% on avarage during the week, with 211% peaks on Friday, 200% during the weekend and 130% on Ciber Monday
Growth in product transacted: That week 41% more products were sold compared to an ordinary week.
Why is there such a large growth in sales volume but a much smaller one in units sold? The reason for this are the aggressive offers we made in Dental Equipment and Appliances: high value products, with long durability and no better offers tend to be found during the rest of the year.
What can you expect for 2019?
For 2019, we can tell you in advance that:
- We will surpass 2018's offers ,in quantity of products, discounts and offers' duration.
- We will launch Black Friday offers throughout November.<>
- The published offers will be kept until December 2nd. So... take advantage of them without waiting for Black Friday and make sure that you dont run out of stock.
