Features of the Black Polyamide Monofilament Suture:
Composed of long-chain aliphatic polymers (Nylon 6 and Nylon 6.6).
High knot tensile strength and needle notch resistance, exceeding the limits set by the USP.
Smooth passage through tissue, thanks to its low friction coefficient.
Excellent elasticity.
In vitro strength retention: although polyamide is non-absorbable, it may suffer a progressive loss of
tensile strength due to hydrolysis, due to its poor tissue adherence.
Tissue reaction: causes minimal inflammatory reaction, followed by progressive encapsulation by fibrous connective tissue.
