The caries detector Diagnodent Pen 2190 can find carious dentin hidden anywhere: in the fissure on flat surfaces or in the proximal area . In addition, it has a technology of detection of concretions in periodontal pockets during the recall. The results are shown digitally and acoustically. It works on batteries. It allows to avoid radiographs especially in children and pregnant women.

The dental substance is stimulated with a laser light to produce fluorescence. The DIAGNOdent pen 2190 detects this fluorescence and shows the difference between the healthy and diseased dental substance. Thanks to the integrated infrared diode, the display value can be displayed on the DIAGNOdent display 2191 to provide information to patients.
