Metal matrix strip

A metallic matrix is a band that is placed around the tooth with the purpose of restoring its anatomical contour, preventing the filling material from exceeding it, thus reestablishing the contact relationships proximal.

To achieve this, it is necessary for the matrices to meet certain requirements such as: containing the restorative material, having the capacity to resist the force necessary to insert the filling without the material being exceeded, protect restorative material, contribute to surface finish, allow adequate point of contact.
