What factors to take into account when choosing an Implant engine?
Therefore, if we perform a significant number of implant surgeries, it will not be superfluous to have a spare engine, as this way we can continue to perform surgeries even if we have to send to repair one of them.
- Available functions: The basic functions of torque control, speed control and reverse are available in all motors, but depending on the extra functions we need, we can find implant motors where we can program the milling protocol of each implant system, obtain the hardness of the bone we are milling, etc.
- With or without light: Motors with light, have a bulb or LED in the micro motor, which transmits light through a fiber optic to the head of the counter-angle. This allows us to see better during surgeries, but also makes the engine considerably more expensive, so before buying we must assess whether we really need this feature.
- Type of Pedal: There are models with very simple pedals, which control only on/off of the engine, and others much more complex with three or four buttons to control different functions.
- Maximum torque: The maximum torque offered by the engine is also an element to be taken into account, which may be decisive in the choice for some implantologists.
- Warranty and Technical Service: Another critical point when choosing an implant engine is the warranty offered and the technical service. Most manufacturers offer a warranty of one to two years, but if the manufacturer does not have technical service in Spain, we will have to send the engine out for repair.
- Price: The price of the Implant Engine will be directly proportional to the functions incorporated, so we can dispense with functions such as light or complex programming modes, we can find motors for economical implants with which to save a good amount of money on the purchase.

Which implant motor do we recommend?
The choice of the Implant Motor is a very personal matter, since you must choose the device with which you feel more comfortable working, however, the factors we have pointed out, can decide us towards one or another model. From Dentaltix we make some recommendations:
