Description
Saliva- Check: Saliva Quality Test
GC Saliva-Check Buffer is an in-office test that assesses the ability of saliva to protect teeth.
Importance of Saliva:
- Saliva is the primary natural oral hygiene defence system.
- Neutralises acid overload by wetting food and bacteria.
- It acts as a lubricant by forming a film.
- Provides calcium, phosphate and fluoride to the tooth
- When saliva is not healthy, the dominant factor is demineralisation.
The Saliva Check Buffer is the best way to help your patient regain and maintain their oral balance. This method, which does not cause any discomfort to the patient, will help to show the possible risk of caries by assessing the quality, pH and buffering capacity of the saliva. This will help you to plan an appropriate treatment and prevention programme, to educate your patients and to introduce changes in their oral hygiene. Understand your dental patient's oral health in 5 steps The first 3 steps of the GC Saliva-Check Buffer Kit are related to unstimulated saliva, while the last 2 steps involve the stimulation of saliva. Through the evaluation of both, testing will become a useful way to detect the contributing factors such as stress, smoking, disease, salivary gland diseases, chronic renal failure, drug abuse, hormonal imbalance due to menopause and side effects of drugs. The results can be explained to the patient by talking to them about prevention and treatment. Together, the dentist and patient can establish a plan to restore saliva balance.
