Cotton swabs are used in dentistry clinics to absorb the flow of saliva from the parotid gland used in many dental treatments, exerting a slight pressure on the gland to decrease saliva production. It can be used in the lingual or labial area. It is most suitable for orthodontic treatments, fissure sealants, odontopediatrics or esthetic dentistry .
