What are the most popular dental cements by 3M?

15/01/2020 - 17:34

Cementation is a key and fundamental part of dental treatment as it guarantees long-lasting prostheses and less invasive restorations. Some of the most important factors in cementation are bond strength, utility and simplicity.

Cements are materials that slide on surfaces and harden in a short time, achieving a high resistance. It is very important to be able to achieve optimum retention, strength and sealing between the restorative material and the tooth.

What are the most popular dental cements by 3M?

The importance of cementing in the dental clinic

Dental cements allow friction between the tooth and the restoration, and the characteristics offered by each one of them must be known for a correct choice of the cement that best suits the tooth.

Factors that determine the choice of cement:

  • The shape of the carving and the height.
  • The patient should not notice anything when he has it in his mouth.
  • It is important to consider the substrate of the enamel, dentin, metal and composite.
  • Location of the gingival margin.
  • Take into account the type of restoration material, otherwise the adhesion will not be the same: ceramic, zirconium...

Basics to be considered before cementing:

  1. Thoroughly clean the substrates where we are going to perform the cementation. In this way we ensure that no cement or temporary material will remain.
  2. Moisture control: it depends on the cement that we are going to use, paying special attention to the resin cements due to their demand with the moisture control. For this we can use a Anstringent Gingival Retraction Paste so we can have clean, dry grooves. The retraction process is 50% faster and avoids the risk of bleeding. We allow a few minutes for the product once it has been dispensed in the mouth, leaving the area without any fluid for successful cementation.
  3. Test the installation: when we have the area ready, test if everything fits exactly the way you want it.

¿What cements does 3M offer?

Over the years, 3M has evolved and developed a wide variety of cements depending on various indications, starting with products for temporary or permanent cementation. With the 3M range of cements, the number of steps and products are reduced.
