RelyX Unicem was the first self-adhesive cement, introduced in 2002. It is now the most clinically proven self-adhesive cement in the world, with a very low risk of post-operative sensitivity. Unique chemical self-adhesive for high strength bonding, eliminating the need for etching, priming and bonding. RelyX Unicem shows very limited discolouration, ensuring long lasting aesthetics.

Characteristics:

• Adhesive monomers react with dentin and enamel in an acid-based reaction.
• At the same time the polymerized reaction begins to form a three-dimensional network.
• As a result of the acid reaction from the first step, water molecules react with the cement glass ionomer fillers.
• The consequences of this process are ions basic hydroxyl causing the neutralised reaction until you get a pH of 7.
• This chain changes the material properties from hydrophilic to hydrophobic.
• The result is a mechanical resistance tin and dimensional stability that is typical of a resin composite.
• Indicated for inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges and endodontic posts.
