Description
Covid-19 antibody test: INgezim Covid 19 Chrom
INgezim Covid 19 Crom is an immediate and reliable solution.
It is a dual recognition immunochromatographic assay capable of detecting SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies in serum and blood samples.
It is a rapid, "point-of-care" test, i.e. it can be carried out outside the laboratory.
how does the INgezim Covid 19 Crom Test work?
- The antibody test is based on the use of coloured latex microspheres bound to the proteins of interest: black particles are covalently bound to the SARS-CoV-2(2) N protein, and blue particles to a control protein (1), acting as an indicator of correct immunochromatography.
- The membrane contains a test line (T), in which the N protein of SARS-CoV-2(3) is immobilised; and a control line (C), formed by a monoclonal antibody specific to the control protein (4).
- If antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 are present in the sample, they will react with the black latex particles coated by the N protein.
- The latex particle/protein/antibody complex will migrate across the membrane and bind to the protein contained in the test line, resulting in a coloured line.
- If the sample does not have antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, no colour will appear on the T-line.
what does the INgezim Covid 19 Crom antibody test include?
- The immunochromatographic strips are supplied in a plastic casing for easy handling when performing occasional and customised assays.
- Each plastic housing is individually packaged in a sealed envelope.
- The kit consists of:
- 5 individually packaged immunochromatographic devices.
- Blister of 5 single doses.
- 6 micropipettes.
- 6 lancets.
The Covid-19 test can be performed using:
- Fresh blood samples obtained at the time, from punctures with the lancet provided in the kit.
- Blood samples obtained by venous puncture. In these cases, the use of anticoagulants is recommended (to avoid clots that may interfere with the assay). These samples may be kept at 4 °C until use, for a maximum period of 48 hours.
- Fresh serum or plasma samples kept at 4 °C or frozen at -20 °C.
- The use of heat-inactivated samples is not recommended.
COVID-19: how to perform the INgezim Covid 19 Crom rapid test?
- Use the lancet to lightly prick the tip of the finger.
- Sample collection: place the supplied pipette over the drop of blood and fill the reservoir (20 μL). If the blood sample is already in a tube, use the pipette in the same way.
- Perform the test immediately, to prevent the blood from clotting in the capillary tube.
- Place the drop into the circular window of the device by covering the hole in the capillary tube and gently pressing the top of the pipette.
- Wait 1 minute for the sample to absorb and slowly add 3 drops of the supplied chromatography buffer. Wait between drops for the liquid to be absorbed into the membrane.
- Interpret the result 10 minutes after adding the chromatography buffer.
*As a serological test, this tool is complementary to the direct detection of the pathogen and can help to collect epidemiological information on the prevalence of the disease.
*They are intended for use by healthcare professionals as they are NOT a self-testing product.
*As long as it is under the supervision of health professionals, it can be used in companies, laboratories, hospitals, dental clinics, nursing homes and occupational risk prevention.
