Aesthetic and Dental Restoration

Aesthetic restoration aims to restore the tooth's shape and function, as well as achieve a better smile. There are currently several types of restoration depending on the procedure and other characteristics. We can distinguish:

• Fillings: the materials harden inside the mouth. Resin or cements such as glass ionomers are used.
• Inlays: pieces that replace the missing part. These can be inlays, onlays and overlays.
• Aesthetic veneers: porcelain or resin sheets used for restorations.
• Crowns or caps: can be made of metal, porcelain or resin.

Porcelain and composite resins are the most commonly used materials nowadays for this type of dental restoration.

When is dental reconstruction necessary? When the underlying causes are decay, root canal treatment or fractures. The advantages of carrying out a restoration include restoring the tooth's functionality, gaining strength, and being able to relieve and put an end to pain or discomfort.

Restoration materials serve the purposes outlined above, that is, preventing the deterioration of a tooth due to various causes.
